The Silvestre Dance Technique is a modern Technique of
Brazilian Dance Expression, created by renowned teacher and choreographer Rosangela Silvestre. Founded in the gestures and mythology of the dances of the Orixá, this unique yet classically based form incorporates the four elements of nature; the chakra system; and the three triangles of the body. Together they provide the expression and interpretation of the exercises with the objective of conditioning the body, mind and spirit for dance. Regardless of prior experience, this technique offers a way to develop, evolve and  discover our potential as we move. Class features movement across the floor, choreography in front of the mirror and utilizes traditional African Brazilian percussion, Jazz music and more.
This class offers an intimate and connected way to experience movement. Open Level - No Shoes

Mandjou Koné was born and raised in West Africa in the countries of Mali and Burkina Faso. She was born into the Koné family, a well-known Griot Family. The Griots people of West Africa are world renown for their unique ability to record events carefully and accurately, passing history from one generation to the other. One cannot learn to become a Griot; rather one is born into it. Being a Griot there is a responsibility to preserve the culture. .... As a young girl Mandjou assisted her Griot father in keeping his band alive by singing, dancing and playing instruments like the Djembe, Bala, Dundun, Kora and Tama. She also danced and performed with the National Ballet of Burkina Faso.
