Conceição Damasceno is the founder, director and choreographer of Ginga Brasil, the Brazilian dance and music company in the San Francisco Bay Area. Ginga Brasil is unique in that it performs both traditional style Brazilian dances (Frevo, Maculele, Orixas, Afro-Brazilian) as well as the more well known Rio Style Extravaganzas. Conceição and Ginga Brasil have performed extensively in Brazil, the United States, Europe, Japan, Thailand and the Pacific Islands. Ginga Brasil has opened shows for many artists including Margareth Menezes, Gilberto Gil, Tania Maria, Celia Cruz, Tito Puentes, Flora Purim and Airto Moreira. Ginga Brasil is available for shows and private parties.
