ABOUT NUBIA QUELE
Nubia Quele Santos is a dancer, choreographer, actress and philanthropist born in Minas Gerias, Brasil and raised in Sydney, Australia. She is a sought after Samba Instructor officially accredited by Carlinhos Salgueiro (Rio’s King of Samba), director of Samba Internacional and associate choreographer and performer for Rio Projekt. Nubia has been an official Passista for three of Rio’s top Samba school: Imperio Serrano, Tuiuti and Salgueiro and performs in Rio Carnaval annually.

Nubia’s experience in Brazilian dance and entertainment is extensive. Based between Sydney and New York City, Nubia is an internationally acclaimed artist. She is the founder of Casa Brazilia, a NYC based Brazilian entertainment company. Casa Brazilia was the officially entertainment for Team USA on their Road to Rio and during the 2016 Olympics. Casa Brazilia worked with Olympic partners and the USA Olympic Committee appearing on the Highest rated morning show ‘The Today Show’ multiple times. Nubia was the assistant choreographer and principal dancer for NBC Universal Rio Olympics launch event held at the prestigious Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

Nubia has choreographed in Australia and the USA. She has choreographed for the successful Off Broadway Show ‘Rio The Musical’ and the Off Off Broadway show ‘Futurology’. Nubia was the choreographer for Indeed’s first TV Commercial, as well as doing choreography for the prestigious Estee Lauder brand ‘Mac Cosmetics’.

Nubia is in demand for her teaching techniques and has traveled around Australia, USA, the Middle East and Europe to promote and teach Brazilian Samba. She is versatile performer with over 15 years experience in traditional and world dance styles. Her accomplishments include being a dancer of the international hit dance show ’Mystic India - The World Tour' and was also Top 40 on So You Think You Can Dance (Australia).

A new experience at BrasArte: a mini version of Rosangela Silvestre’s signature cultural dance intensive in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. Twelve hours over 4 days with two master teaching artists with an ocean of knowledge to share. Silvestre Technique classes will culminate in a final presentation to be recorded in nature. All levels of dance experience (including none) welcome. Symbology & Ancestral Rhythms classes open for drop ins.

Ancestral Rhythms with Luciano Xavier:
Rooted in experiences of the day-to-day life of traditions in Candomblé houses (spiritual houses). With an understanding of ancestral rhythms, Luciano shares his musical understanding through classes inspired by the rhythms of Candomblé, samba roots, Samba Afro, Samba Reggae and folkloric music.

A Special Sacred Orixá Movement Workshop where we will explore the symbology of different yabás (feminine orixás): Yemanjá, Oxum, Oyá & Ewá. Lead by Master teaching artist from Salvador, Bahia: Vera Passos. A study of the connections between the rhythms and the traditional movement, archetype and story, of the Orixa dances interpreted as an art form. Discover how sacred symbolism inspires the body to dance. Orixa is the Essence of the Universe.

About Vera Passos
With a degree in Dance at the Federal University of Bahia, Master's student in Dance at PRODAN - UFBA, teacher, dancer and choreographer, Vera began her training with modern dance in Salvador, and got involved with other forms of dance - such as Classic Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary and Traditional Brazilian Dances. She has studied with first generation renowned Brazilian professors, among them: Gal Mascarenhas, Lia Robato. Mestre King, Carlinhos Moraes, Zebrinha… Passos danced in Companies such as Africa Poesia, Companhia de Dança Jorge Silva and was a solo dancer with the internationally acclaimed Bale Folclórico da Bahia. Initiating her studies with the Silvestre Technique (Developed by Rosângela Silvestre) in 1988 and, in 2002, she began to share Silvestre knowledge with students in Salvador and around the world. She is currently director of Silvestre Link Bahia, associate artistic director of Los Angeles based, award winning Viver Brasil Dance Company, and director and founder of Casa de Cultura Somovimento. Vera travels around the world teaching classes and composing for Dance, music and theater companies.
