SAMBA DE GAFIEIRA FUNDAMENTALS: INTRO COURSE
WITH CISSA & JAGUAR Pre-Recorded & Live Stream Online Classes with Cissa & Jaguar www.facebook.com/cissaejaguar Includes: -Three 15-20 minute recorded video classes These classes include Cissa & Jaguar’s signature syllabus that builds samba de gafieira in our bodies by finding, in our own style, the textures and identities of samba as a social, Afro Brazilian art form. As well as breakdowns of important vocabulary and fundamental figures/steps for samba de gafieira. Classes may be watched and rewatched as many times as necessary for any level of mover. -One 30 minute live zoom private lesson This 30 minute private lesson serves as a check in to make sure all students understand the curriculum presented, and to answer any questions that may come up. $60 Notes: All dancers must complete fundamentals course before joining gafieira monthly membership You should receive the videos in your email within 24 hours of purchasing the fundamentals course. WITH CISSA & JAGUAR (Must complete the Samba de Gafieira Fundamentals Course before joining this membership) This monthly course includes: Two Live Stream classes with Cissa & Jaguar 1st & 3rd Wednesdays, 5:30-6:30pm* *online classes are recorded & available for later viewing Two In Studio classes with Tainah (in person facilitator) 2nd & 4th Thursdays, 7:40-8:40pm NEW! Two In Studio Free Practices 1st & 3rd Thursdays, 7:40-8:20pm January Schedule: Lives Stream Class ~ 5:30-6:30pm, Jan 5 & 19 In Studio Class ~ 7:40-8:40pm, Jan 13 & 27 In Studio Free Practice ~ 7:40-8:20pm, Jan 6 & 20 Our ongoing samba de gafieira program. Instructors straight from Brazil, and qualified in person facilitators offer a full and fun experience of learning this beautiful partner dance in community! Online classes focus on our skills as an individual dancer, while in studio classes/practices help us build our understanding of how it all works in a partnered, social setting. Notes: Zoom class links, extra videos, and chat room are sent through WhatsApp, so please download and provide your telephone number on your Mindbody account. ABOUT CISSA & JAGUAR:
This series is a partnership with Salvador, Bahia based dance couple Cissa & Jaguar who have toured Brazil, Europe & Canada teaching samba de gafieira. Their ability to build a strong and talented gafieira community in Salvador (outside the nucleus of Rio de Janeiro) has made them intuitive facilitators for this process in other places, and we’re so lucky to have them be our coaches out here in the Bay! Their teaching style is based off their passion for Samba de Gafieira's roots. For four years they have shared this love of samba in a partnership that has as one of its evolutionary bases the study and deepening of the Afro-languages that permeate samba de gafieira and their partnership, and which are the base of any samba language. They seek this approach to Afro-Brazilian culture through readings, studies of variant sacred touches of candomblé, practice and observation of capoeira, and appreciation and experience of the manifestations of popular culture that is part of the Bahian DNA. Cissa has danced for 15 years and Jaguar 13, they have taught at many of the biggest samba events in Brazil such as Sambamaniacos, Gafieira Brasil Nordeste, SambazoukFeira, and outside of Brazil at Sambakana in Montreal.
